Offered here is an authentic, unrestored Miller & Co. Brimington acetylene motor car lamp, dating to the veteran motoring era (circa 1905–1915).

A substantial steel-bodied carbide headlamp, this type was fitted to early motor cars and heavier motorcycles before electric lighting became standard. Surviving examples in untouched condition like this are increasingly scarce, making it a superb collector’s display piece or period reference item.

■ Key Features
Maker: Miller & Co., Brimington (original maker’s badge present)
Date: c.1905–1915 (Veteran era)
Type: Acetylene / carbide motor car lamp (vapor burner system)
Construction: Heavy steel body – robust automotive form (not a lightweight cycle lamp)
Optics: Large convex front projector lens (intact)
Fittings: Original ceramic “Vapor” carbide burner retained, side mounting lugs, top carry handle
Markings: Period rear stencilled number “9” (likely fleet or ownership marking)
Rear Marker: Faceted red glass jewel present
■ Physical Details
Materials: Steel body, glass lens, ceramic burner components, red glass jewel
Form: Cylindrical with hinged front access; larger industrial scale consistent with early motor use
Approx Size: 23.3cm (H incl. handle) × 17.4cm (W incl. fixings) × 12cm (D incl. shroud)
■ Condition

Presented in honest attic-found, unrestored condition with surface oxidation and age-related patina.

No aggressive cleaning or polishing – retains strong original character
Front glass lens intact
Rear red jewel intact
Original internal burner assembly present (untested)
No structural cracks observed to body or lens

This piece displays beautifully and remains a genuine survivor of early motoring history.
Sold as a display / collector’s item – not tested or restored for functional use.
(Please study photographs carefully as they form part of the description.)
